Install PINTA 2.0 in Ubuntu / Linux Mint / Fedora

Pinta is a free and open-source program for image editing and drawing.

Pinta’s goal is to provide users with a simple tool to draw and edit images, it is available for Windows, Linux, mac, and BSD.

This tutorial will be helpful for beginners to install Pinta 2.0 in Ubuntu 20.04, Linux Mint, and Fedora.

PINTA 2.0 Changelog

New Features in PINTA 2.0

  • Ported to GTK3 and .NET 6
  • Changed the tool palette to be a single column
  • macOS installers are now signed and notarized
  • macOS keyboard shortcuts now use Command instead of Ctrl
  • Tools now save their settings for the next time Pinta is opened.

Changes

  • Removed the Images Pad
  • Performance improvements for the paint bucket, magic wand tools, and selection tools.

How to Install Pinta 2.0 in Ubuntu / Linux Mint / Fedora?

Pinta can be installed on Ubuntu 20.04, Linux Mint, and Fedora 35 via the Flathub repository

Step 1: Install Flatpak on your system based on your distribution.

Step 2: Install Pinta 2.0

flatpak install flathub com.github.PintaProject.Pinta

Step 3: Run the Pinta

flatpak run com.github.PintaProject.Pinta
