2 ways we can install the ImageMagick in Ubuntu / Linux Mint

  • Via APT repository
  • Via Source file

Method 1: Via APT repository

Step 1: Update the repository

sudo apt update

Step 2: Install ImageMagick via Apt

sudo apt install imagemagick

Step 3: Verify the ImageMagick installation

sudo convert logo: logo.gif

Method 2 : Via Source File

By using this method you can install the latest version of ImageMagick from the source code.

Step 1: Install the compiler packages

sudo apt install make build-essential

Step 2: Download the ImageMagick source file


Step 3: Extract the contents from the tar file

tar -xf ImageMagick.tar.gz && cd ImageMagick-7.1.0-19/

Step 4: Configure and build the ImageMagick

./configure && sudo make install

Step 5: Verify the ImageMagick installation

magick -version
install ImageMagick in Ubuntu
