3 ways we can install Signal application in ubuntu  / Linux Mint

  • Via Offical Repository
  • Via Snap Store
  • Via Flathub

Method 1: Via Official repository

Step 1: Open the terminal and install the official public software signing key

wget -O- | sudo apt-key add –

Step 2: Add the Signal Offical repository to your system

echo “deb [arch=amd64] xenial main” | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list.d/signal-xenial.list

Step 3: Update the repository

sudo apt update

Step 4: Install Signal Desktop

sudo apt install signal-desktop

Method 2: Via Snap Store

Install Signal for desktop from snap store via the below command

sudo apt install snapd && sudo snap install signal-desktop

Method 3: Via Flathub

Step 1: Install Flatpak

Refer to the setup steps based on your distribution for installing Flatpak on your system.

Step 2: Install Signal using flatpak

flatpak install flathub org.signal.Signal

Step 3: Run Signal using Flatpak

flatpak run org.signal.Signal
