Install LibreOffice 7.0.4 on Ubuntu 20.04 / LinuxMint

LibreOffice 7.0.4 is the 5th minor update and comes with a fix of 110 bug fixes and this version contains new features and program enhancements

All users are requested to update to this version as soon as possible.

This tutorial will be helpful for beginners to install LibreOffice 7.0.4 on Ubuntu 20.04, Ubuntu 18.04 / 16.04, and LinuxMint 19.3.

Two methods available for installing Libreoffice

  • Via Tar file
  • Via PPA

Install LibreOffice 7.0.4 on Ubuntu / LinuxMint Via PPA

Method 1: Via tar file

Step 1: Download the tar file from the official download page or use the below command download 64-bit package from the terminal

wget https://ftp.halifax.rwth-aachen.de/tdf/libreoffice/stable/7.0.4/deb/x86_64/LibreOffice_7.0.4_Linux_x86-64_deb.tar.gz

Step 2: Extract the package and locate the installer files

tar -xf LibreOffice_7.0.4_Linux_x86-64_deb.tar.gz

cd LibreOffice_7.0.4.2_Linux_x86-64_deb && cd DEBS

Step 3: Install the deb files

sudo dpkg -i *.deb

Method 2: Via PPA

Step 1: Add LibreOffice official PPA

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/libreoffice-7-0

Step 2: Update the repository

sudo apt update

Step 3: Install LibreOffice 7.0.4

sudo apt install libreoffice
