Install Firefox 80 in Ubuntu / LinuxMint / Debian / CentOS

Method 1:PPA

The latest version of Firefox will be updated to the repositories, just update the repository and install it using the below command

sudo apt update && sudo apt install firefox

Method 2: Via SNAP Store

Step 1: Install the SNAP store on your system

sudo apt install snap

sudo apt install firefox

Method 3: Via Flatpak

Step 1: Install Flatpak on your system by using the Flatpak setup guide

Step 2: Install firefox using Flatpak

flatpak install flathub org.mozilla.firefox

Step 3: Run Firefox

flatpak run org.mozilla.firefox/x86_64/stable

Method 4: Via Source file

Step 1: Download the tar file from the firefox FTP site

Step 2: Extract the downloaded tar file to opt

tar -xf firefox-80.0.tar.bz2 && mv firefox /opt/firefox80

Step 3: Remove the old firefox from there

rm -rf /opt/firefox79

Step 4: Create symbolic links and set Firefox 80 as default

sudo mv /usr/bin/firefox /usr/bin/firefoxold

sudo ln -s /opt/firefox77/firefox-bin /usr/bin/firefox
