Install LibreOffice 6.4.4 on Ubuntu 20.04 / LinuxMint

LibreOffice 6.4.4 is the 4th minor update and comes with a large number of fixes and this version contains new features and program enhancements.

This tutorial will be helpful for beginners to install LibreOffice 6.4.4 on Ubuntu 20.04, Ubuntu 18.04 / 16.04, and LinuxMint 19.3.

Two methods available for installing Libreoffice

  • Via PPA
  • Via Tar file

Install LibreOffice 6.4.4 on Ubuntu / LinuxMint Via PPA

Method 1: Via PPA

Step 1: Add the Official PPA

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/libreoffice-6-4

Step 2: Update the repository

sudo apt update

Step 3: Install LibreOffice 6.4.4

sudo apt install libreoffice

Method 2: Via tar file

Step 1: Download the tar file from the official download page or use the below command download 64-bit package from the terminal

wget https://tdfmirror.netfirst.in/libreoffice/stable/6.4.4/deb/x86_64/LibreOffice_6.4.4_Linux_x86-64_deb.tar.gz

Step 2: Extract the package and locate the installer files

tar -xf LibreOffice_6.4.4_Linux_x86-64_deb.tar.gz

cd LibreOffice_6.4.4.2_Linux_x86-64_deb && cd DEBS

Step 3: Install the deb files

sudo dpkg -i *.deb
