Install LibreOffice 6.4.3 on Ubuntu 18.04 / 16.04 and LinuxMint

LibreOffice a free and Open Source software. It is the top alternative for Microsoft Office and it is available for Windows, Linux, and MacOSX and widely used by home users and organizations.

LibreOffice 6.4.3 is the 3rd minor update and comes with a large number of fixes and this version contains new features and program enhancements

This tutorial will be helpful to install LibreOffice 6.4.3 on Ubuntu 18.04 / 16.04 and LinuxMint

LibreOffice can be installed in Ubuntu via 2 methods

  • via PPA
  • via Tar file

Install LibreOffice 6.4.3 on Ubuntu via PPA

By using Official PPA LibreOffice suite can be installed for Ubuntu 20.04, Ubuntu 19.10, Ubuntu 18.04 and Ubuntu 16.04

Method 1: via PPA

Step 1: Add the Official PPA

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/libreoffice-6-4

Step 2: Update the repository

sudo apt-get update

Step 3: Install LibreOffice 6.4.3

sudo apt-get install libreoffice

Method 2: via tar file

Step 1: Download tar file from the LibreOffice site or use the below command to download 64-bit package from terminal

wget https://tdfmirror.netfirst.in/libreoffice/stable/6.4.3/deb/x86_64/LibreOffice_6.4.3_Linux_x86-64_deb.tar.gz

Step 2: Extract the package

tar -xf LibreOffice_6.4.3_Linux_x86-64_deb.tar.gz  && cd LibreOffice_6.4.3_Linux_x86-64_deb && cd DEBS

Step 3: Install the deb files

sudo dpkg -i *.deb

LibreOffice 6.4.3
