Install Skype on Ubuntu 20.04

Skype is a software that is used by millions of individuals and businesses use Skype to make free video calls, group calls and free voice calls one to one, send messages and share files.

Skype uses decentralized peer-to-peer technologies and it is free to use and the latest version of skype is 8.59.0.77

This tutorial will be helpful for the beginners to install skype on Ubuntu 20.04,  Ubuntu 18.04, LinuxMint and  Zorin OS

Skype is not installed by default on Ubuntu, below are the steps to install on Ubuntu and the procedures are the same for LinuxMint and Zorion OS.

How to Install Skype on Ubuntu 20.04

Step 1: Download the deb file from the Download Skype page or use the below command in terminal

wget https://go.skype.com/skypeforlinux-64.deb

Step 2: Install Skype

Once the installer file is downloaded  install it by using the below command

sudo apt install ./skypeforlinux-64.deb

Step 3: Run Skype

Start the skype from the terminal using skypeforlinux  or select it from activities
